At the end of August 2020, measurements on both units of HPP Žilina (Slovakia) were performed. The main goals were as follows:

• Evaluation of turbine efficiency after recent upgrade of turbine control system.
• Assessment of on-cam optimality (i.e. relation between runner and guide vanes).

An interesting feature was the measurement of the discharge by using an ultrasonic device in the Váh riverbed behind the power plant (subcontracted by Hydrometrics, s.r.o.).

Measurements showed that the condition of both units is very good after more than two decades of operation, with a decrease in efficiency compared to the original guaranteed values of only 1.2% on average.
